Stewart Painting Completes Its 4th Annual Paint It Forward — Honoring Vietnam Veteran John Creel
On November 8th, Stewart Painting proudly completed our 4th annual Paint It Forward, a tradition that continues to grow in meaning, impact, and community support each year. This year’s recipient, John Creel of Sandwich, MA, is a Vietnam veteran whose life story exemplifies courage, resilience, and unwavering gratitude.
John was shot and paralyzed in combat while serving our country. Despite immense challenges, he went on to earn an engineering degree through the GI Bill, build a long and successful career, and dedicate years to coaching and mentoring local high school athletes. About a decade ago, John suffered a massive stroke that left him fully paralyzed and wheelchair-bound. Yet through every chapter of his life, he has remained positive, humble, and deeply inspiring. His wife described him simply as “my hero,” and we couldn’t agree more.
A Two-Day Transformation
Our team began the project on Wednesday, completing a full exterior wash of the Creel home. Then, on Saturday, our painters and carpenters returned to install new shutters, complete necessary exterior carpentry work, and paint the home. The transformation was more than visual — it was emotional, powerful, and filled with a sense of purpose that reminded all of us why Paint It Forward matters.
A Special Visit From State Representative Steven Xiarhos
We were honored to have State Representative Steven Xiarhos join us on Saturday. Representative Xiarhos, himself a Gold Star Father and longtime supporter of veterans, led our team, the Creel family, and volunteers in the Pledge of Allegiance before work began. His presence set the tone for a day that felt truly meaningful.
A Day That Felt Magical
From the moment our trucks pulled up, there was something undeniably magical about the day. The weather cooperated, volunteers arrived with enthusiasm, and neighbors stopped by to offer support. Watching the Creel family witness their home being renewed — with John proudly observing each step — brought a sense of joy and unity that is hard to put into words. It felt like the very best of what a community can be.

Moving Toward Our 10-Year, $1 Million Veterans Pledge

Paint It Forward is one of the most meaningful ways we fulfill that promise. Each project brings us closer to our goal — and deepens our gratitude for those who have served.
Thank You
To the Creel family, our contributors, Representative Steven Xiarhos, and every team member who volunteered helped make this year’s Paint It Forward unforgettable: thank you. Your support allows us to continue honoring veterans who have given so much to our country.
Stewart Painting is proud to serve Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Hingham — and even prouder to serve those who have served us.
