Holiday ideas inspired by Pantone’s Color of the Year
December is a special month for many reasons. Of course there is the festivity of the holidays – along with the process of closing some chapters and beginning new ones. And for anyone who loves to follow trends, it’s also the month in which Benjamin Moore and Pantone announce their colors for the new year.
Last month we talked about Benjamin Moore’s picks, and how those colors can work beautifully for holiday decorating. Well, it turns out that the Pantone Color Institute’s 2017 Color of the Year is “Greenery” – and as much as green evokes feelings of spring, doesn’t it feel kind of Christmasy, too? We think so, and in that Chrsitmas spirit, we’ve rounded up some of of our favorite holiday ideas that highlight the color. It may be a little late for holiday painting, but it’s never too late to deck your halls (and tables, mantels, and entryways) with some holiday cheer inspired by the hottest color out there. After all, green really is nature’s neutral.
Table toppers
Looking for a fresh idea on a holiday centerpiece? Try dusting grapes, limes, pears, or artichokes with a little glitter! You can use the real thing or go faux – either way, green is the star. And p.s., sugar works too – just brush a little egg wash on the fruit before sprinkling.

Speaking of pears, they are also the perfect base for an edible placecard on your holiday table.

Inviting entryway
Painted in Behr’s fresh green shade of “New Shoot,” this door is an undeniably welcoming. Maybe there is time to paint it by Christmas?

A marvelous mantel
It doesn’t take much to elevate a holiday mantel display with little pops of color. A few gorgeous green ornaments interspersed with an otherwise monchromatic arrangement is striking, yet subtle.
